Is It Ever Too Late To Start A New Chapter?

ree

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how we measure life. Not in birthdays or calendars, but in the moments we dare to say, “What if?” The bold ones. The reckless ones. The “I might be a bit mad, but let’s do it anyway” ones.

I don’t think those moments have an age limit. I don’t believe in being “too old,” “too sensible,” or “too settled.” I believe in chasing the sort of ideas that make your stomach fizz with a mixture of excitement and fear.

Something weird happens though, when you reach a certain age! People start using words like "sensible" and "settled" around you, as though you've hung up your adventurous spirit like a raincoat on a hook. At 62 some people expect me to stick to what I know and sit back to quietly enjoy the so called golden years.

But here's the thing: I've never really liked being told what I'm supposed to do!

So, I'm starting a new chapter. A bold, slightly bonkers chapter that is exciting and terrifying in equal measure. The kind of adventure that sees a poet, her husband, a scruffy little rescue dog and a Purple Notebook brimming with half-formed verses and wild ideas upsticks and embark on a whole new life!

Why? Because it's never too late to reinvent yourself.

It's never too late in the season to turn those "one day" dreams into an exciting reality.

It's never too late to remember that life isn't measured in sensible decisions, but in the moments that make your heart thump and your spirit feel gloriously, rebelliously alive.

The seasons of our lives don't have to follow the rules. Sometimes your spring arrives at the age of 62. Sometimes you find your summer in a beautiful, shuttered farmhouse surrounded by sunflower fields.

So here's to all of us who dare to begin again. To the ones packing up their doubts and their dreams, scribbling new stories in purple notebooks and refusing to be sensible!

This is my new chapter.

And if you've been waiting for a sign that it's time to start yours - well, maybe this is it!

Next time I'll tell you where we're headed next.............

It's Never Too Late

It's never too late to begin again

To shake the dust from your dreams and pen

A brand new chapter, a softer light

A twisting path to a whole new life

It's never too late to change your skies

To trade old streets for butterflies

To dip your feet into bubbling streams

To give life to "one day" whistful dreams

They'll say you're mad, too old, too late

But you've learned the hard way that life doesn't wait

So grab your heart, your hope, your pen

It's never too late to live again!
