When Life Nudges You (Hard!) Towards Your Dreams

ree

They say you don’t always choose your turning points. Sometimes, life delivers them for you — uninvited, unexpected, and utterly inconvenient.

For years, we toyed with the idea of living in France one day.

“When we retire.”

“When the time’s right.”

“When we’ve sorted this… or that… or maybe next year.”

You know how it goes, because you've probably done it yourself.

We made lists. We poured over maps. We went on holidays and drooled over the photos in the Immobilliers windows. We daydreamed over wine and nodded at charming stone cottages in property magazines and visited countless "A Place In The Sun" expo's.

Then life, in all its unpredictable wisdom, threw us a few curveballs.

First Covid stopped everything. Plans were packed away with holiday brochures and unclaimed dreams. Then Julian’s spinal surgery brought its own kind of fear. And then we faced my surgery and long recovery. The Universe had delivered a message I couldn’t ignore:

There is no perfect time. There is only now.

And suddenly, it wasn’t about “one day” anymore. It was about grabbing this precious, unpredictable life and running — or in our case, walking fairly carefully — towards the things we truly wanted.

You see, France isn’t just a place on a map for us. It’s a symbol of second chances. Of light after dark. Of breathing easier, loving deeper, and chasing the kind of joy that makes you grateful for every sunrise.

We’re not moving because it’s easy.

We’re moving because it matters.

We're moving because we've spent long enough dreaming, planning, wishing and visualising. We've done the work and the Universe has lined it all up with a degree of synchronicity that has taken my breath away!

And if you’ve been sitting on a dream of your own, scribbling it in notebooks like me, saving it for a better time — let me gently nudge you too.

Because the truth is, you’ll never regret chasing the things that make you feel alive.

Follow me on the journey to finding our pefect dream home (with my very own writing nook!), packing up 40 year's worth of belongings and setting off on our greatest adventure yet!

And for those who that think we're being reckless old pensioneers ........ I say .......

I’ve got a reckless little voice inside

It says, ‘Darling, you're here to enjoy the ride

Not to sit, not to settle, not to stay in one place

But to chase what you love with a grin on your face.’

I’m so pleased you’re finally going to live the dream. No-one deserves it more. You’ve both worked so hard, brought up two amazing women and dealt with life’s many (and I mean MANY) trials and tribulations. Bonne chance mes chéris xx
